Transformational Learning Environments

How we Support Schools?

Targeted and tailored services help schools, teachers, coaches, and leaders deliver effective public, faith-based and private Montessori education.

Targeted and tailored services help schools, teachers, coaches, and leaders deliver effective public Montessori education

The school as a locus of transformation

The AMTI Montessori Teacher Residency (AMTI MTR) has adopted an innovative model of teacher formation that has been pioneered by the National Center for Montessori in the Public Sector (NCMPS). It was designed to cultivate a sustainable pipeline of Montessori teachers prepared to serve high-need public schools with Montessori programs.

The demands of the public sector are such that the transformation often associated with Montessori professional formation requires an extended period of work-based training supported by a professional community equipped to induct novices through modelling, collaborative child and lesson study, ongoing reflection, coaching, and targeted professional development. The school, in other words, needs to be the locus of formation, the nexus of ongoing support and improvement, and a community intentionally oriented toward human flourishing for all its members.

Specifically, we have elaborated this commitment in a three-pronged approach to ensuring excellence:

→ high-quality Montessori training,
→ a surround of additional learning experiences focused on the specific demands of the public sector, and
→ a robust school-wide professional culture of continuous reflection and improvement.

It certainly helped me deliver my lessons more effectively. The step by step lesson plans were god sent. Although I’m an educator in a Montessori Centre, I was never given any form of training about how to demonstrate Montessori activities the correct way. I didn’t realize I was making many mistakes in the classroom, especially when helping a child with an activity. I feel as though I require more training about the do’s and don’t’s.
